Idaho Steelheads News Release

Boise, ID - Brian Stewart stopped 40 shots during live action and another three of four shooters in a game-ending shootout Friday night as the Bakersfield Condors snuck out a 3-2 shootout win over the Idaho Steelheads at Boise's CenturyLink Arena.

Despite the loss, Idaho (7-2-2) extended it's unbeaten-in-regulation streak to nine games, gaining a point in the standings by getting to the shootout.

The visiting Condors got on the board first at the 4:30 mark of the opening period when Trevor Hendrikx tucked a shot from the right-hand circle under Tyler Beskorowany's arm for his third goal of the season for the only tally of the first period.

Idaho would answer in the second. Fresh out of the penalty box, Sam Carrick picked up a puck in the neutral zone and sped down the right-hand wing. Just as Stewart committed to Carrick for the shot, the rookie slid a perfect back-door pass toward the left post to Adrian Foster for his third goal of the season at 7:23 to tie the game at one. The Steelheads took the lead on a similar play just six minutes later as Tristan King skated around Scott Enders and into the right-hand circle, also shuffling a puck across the top of the crease to Foster at the left-hand post for his second of the night and fourth of the season at 13:20.

That score held into the third period when the Steelheads nearly sealed it on a Kael Mouillierat shot. Stewart made the save and, in the ensuing transition, Robbie Dee fed Peter Boyd in the left-hand circle for a wrist shot over Beskorowany's shoulder to tie the game at two with just under eight minutes left in regulation.

Stewart came up big for Bakersfield through the rest of regulation and overtime, making several big saves as Idaho dominated puck possession in the offensive zone, to send the game to a shootout. Idaho held the Condors to just 11 shots on net over the final two periods and overtime, but could not solve Stewart for the game-winner. In the shootout session, Boyd, Tyler Brenner, and Levi Nelson scored for the Condors to secure the second point with the victory.

Beskorowany stopped 23 of 25 in regulation in the loss. He has now stopped 100 of the last 106 shots he's faced in live action, a .943 save percentage spanning over 180 minutes of game action.

Neither team scored on the power play. Idaho was 0-5 and Bakersfield was 0-7

The Steelheads and Condors wrap up their three-game set at CenturyLink Arena with the puck dropping at 7:10 PM. Tickets are available by calling the CenturyLink Arena box office at 208.331.8497 or by going online at www.idahosteelheads.com.
