BOISE, Idaho - A third period goal from F Peter Boyd and 40 saves from G Brian Stewart helped propel the Bakersfield Condors (4-7-1-0, 9pts) to a 3-2 shootout victory over the Idaho Steelheads (7-2-0-2, 16pts) on Friday night at CenturyLink Arena.

Bakersfield found the scoreboard first as D Trevor Hendrikx snapped a shot through traffic that beat Idaho G Tyler Beskorowany under the glove to give the Condors a 1-0 lead at the 4:30 mark of the first period. The Condors would go on to outshoot the Steelheads by a 14-9 margin.

The second period was controlled by the Steelheads as they scored twice, both from F Adrian Foster at 7:23 and 13:20 of the frame to give the Steelheads at 2-1 lead. Idaho continued to fire shots at the Condors cage, but Stewart kept them at bay making 11 saves on 13 shots in the period. The Condors mustered just two shots on net in the second.

Down 2-1 midway through the third period, the Condors found new life in the form of Boyd who cut across the Idaho zone, weaved to the left-wing circle and rifled a wrist-shot under the cross bar past Beskorowany to tie the hockey game at 2-2, 12:19 into the period. From then on it was the Stewart show, making 17 third period stops to send the game to overtime.

After a scoreless overtime the teams headed to a shootout where the Condors went 3/4 with goals from Boyd, RW Tyler Brenner, and C Levi Nelson to get the extra point. Stewart denied three of the four Idaho chances.
