ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Clippers bested the Birmingham Squadron, NBA G League affiliate of the New Orleans Pelicans, 106-97 on Monday night at Toyota Arena.

Birmingham (1-6) held Ontario (3-3) scoreless for the first 5:21 of the fourth quarter and the Squadron took its first lead since it was 12-11 in the first quarter with 7:31 remaining when Daeqwon Plowden hit a deep three-pointer to give Birmingham an 87-84 advantage.

Ontario's Moussa Diabate threw down a dunk with just under four minutes remaining, making the score 94-93, a lead the Clippers did not relinquish.

Kelan Martin paced the Squadron in scoring with 19, while three Birmingham players, Plowden, Zylan Cheatham and John Petty, Jr. each tallied 12 for Birmingham.

Former Birmingham resident and member of the UAB men's basketball team Nate Darling led the Clippers in scoring off the bench with 22, while Diabate notched 21 in 34 minutes of action.

Birmingham and Ontario are set for a rematch on Wednesday night at Toyota Arena, with tipoff set for 9 p.m. CT. The contest can be seen on My68 WABM in the Birmingham market or nationally on ESPN+.
