
Ignite Escapes with Win over Capitanes in Nail-Biting Finish

HENDERSON, Nev. - NBA G League Ignite (5-3) defeated the Mexico City Capitanes (5-2), 123-122, to split the two-game series on Tuesday at The Dollar Loan Center in Henderson, Nev.
Scoot Henderson and Leonard Miller combined for 53 to lead the way for Ignite. Henderson recorded a team-high 27 points with four rebounds, four assists and two steals, while Miller registered 26 points and eight rebounds on 11-of-14 shooting from the field. John Jenkins added 17 points and Eric Mika (10 points, 10 rebounds) tallied his seventh double-double of the season.
Gary Clark paced the Capitanes with a game-high 30 points and 12 rebounds on 10-of-20 shots from the field, including 6-of-12 from the three-point line. Kenneth Faried went perfect from the field (9-9) to add 25 points, seven rebounds and three steals.
After facing a 17-point deficit in the third quarter, Ignite used an 11-0 run to cut the lead to 91-88. As a team, Ignite picked it up on the offensive end en route to shooting 57.1 percent from the field and 50 percent from the three-point line while limiting the Capitanes to 10 percent shooting from behind the arc. After a back-and-forth fourth quarter, Ignite took its first lead since the opening minutes of the game with a little over four minutes remaining in regulation.
Up by three with two seconds remaining, Ignite fouled a three-point shooter and gave the Capitanes a chance to send the game to overtime. Gary Clark, of the Capitanes, drained the first two free throws and missed the third attempt as Ignite escaped with the nail-biting victory. Leonard Miller poured in 14 of his 26 points in the final frame to help secure the win.
