HENDERSON, Nev. - NBA G League Ignite (2-31) fell to the South Bay Lakers (17-14), 105-97, on Monday night at The Dollar Loan Center in Henderson, Nev.
Dink Pate led the way for Ignite with a final stat line of 23 points (tied season-high), seven rebounds (season-high) and four assists. Matas Buzelis followed with 19 points, nine rebounds and four assists, while London Johnson added 19 points, seven assists, four rebounds and two steals off the bench.
Damion Baugh paced the Lakers with a game-high 27 points, seven rebounds and three assists. Bryce Hamilton tallied 23 points, five rebounds and three assists, while Joirdon Nicholas recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
The Lakers edged out a six-point advantage (48-42) at the halfway mark led by Damion Baugh, who posted 12 of his 27 points in the first half. Matas Buzelis and Dink Pate helped Ignite remain in striking distance after scoring 10 and nine points through two-quarters of action, respectively. The Lakers began to pull away in the third quarter after Bryce Hamilton tallied 15 points on 4-of-6 shooting from the field, including 2-of-4 from behind the arc in the frame en route to taking a 14-point lead (83-69) heading into the fourth quarter. Trailing by 14 with 8:44 remaining in regulation, Ignite used a 8-0 run to cut its deficit to six points. The Lakers quickly responded with three consecutive baskets to push its lead by 12 points late in the frame. Ignite failed to overcome its deficit as the Lakers held on to the victory. Ignite's struggles from the three-point line hinder them throughout the game after shooting 11-of-39 from behind the arc.
