SALT LAKE CITY - The Salt Lake City Stars (19-13) the official NBA G League Affiliate of the Utah Jazz, defeated the Austin Spurs (San Antonio Spurs affiliate) (18-14), 113-108 tonight at Delta Center, home of the Utah Jazz, stretching their win streak to 10.
Two players reached the 20-point threshold for the Stars, led by guard Taevion Kinsey's 22 points. Utah Jazz two-way guard Jason Preston notched his league-leading ninth triple-double of the season, tallying 20 points, 14 assists, and 13 rebounds. Darius Bazley, currently on assignment from the Jazz, posted a double-double performance on 16 points paired with 10 rebounds. Meanwhile, Jazz two-way player Micah Potter secured a double-double of his own, scoring 18 points and grabbing 11 rebounds, while blocking four shots. Stars guard Isaiah Miller chipped in 14 points, six rebounds, and five assists in 23 minutes off the bench.
The Stars and Spurs traded the lead nine times in the first half, with Austin holding a one-point (55-54) edge at intermission. However, Salt Lake City fought back, grabbing a five-point lead (81-76) to head into the final frame, where the playoff vying teams would fight to the finish. The fourth quarter saw 14 lead changes and six ties. In the end, Salt Lake City overcame the final second push, defeating Austin, 113-108 in their final home game of the regular season, and extending their win-streak to 10.
San Antonio Spurs two-way player David Duke Jr. led the night with 24 points, grabbing an additional nine rebounds. Meanwhile, fellow Spurs two-way player RaiQuan Gray tallied a double-double, with 22 points to go with 12 assists.
The Stars will head on the road to make their final playoff push, as they face the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in a back-to-back set on Friday, March 29, and Saturday, March 30. The final two regular season games will tip off at 6:30 p.m. (MT), and will be broadcast live on NBAGLeague.com.
