Raptors 905 (12-21), the NBA G League affiliate of the Toronto Raptors, defeated the Motor City Cruise (16-17) in the first of two matches, 116-102 Wednesday afternoon. Omari Moore led the 905 with career highs in points, 29, and assists, 11, adding six rebounds, a steal, and a block in the victory.
In their first meeting of the 2023/24 season, the two teams traded baskets back-and-forth throughout the quarter. Motor City went on a run as the quarter came to an end, giving the visitors a three-point lead going into the second. The 905 quickly answered back opening the second quarter on a 12-6 run before the Cruise fired back with a 23-9 run, taking an 11-point lead going into the break.
The 905 took control of the second half, opening the third quarter on a 9-2 run. The two teams traded baskets before a three from Moore tied the game up at 73 points. Raptors 905 continued to pour in the points, putting up 34 points while holding the visitors to 20. Moore contributed 14 of his 29 points in the third quarter, shooting 6-7 from the field. The home team continued to build off their momentum in the final frame, outscoring the Cruise 36-25, and snapping their four-game losing streak.
Raptors 905 received complementary scoring from Darryl Morsell who secured career-highs in points, 24, and rebounds, 10, earning his first career double-double. Makur Maker added 26 points in the victory. Nathan Knight added a 16-point, 16-rebound double-double in the loss.
The two teams meet again Friday evening to close out the 2023/24 season. Tip-off scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
