
Chiodo brings NHL experience to Nailers

WHEELING, WV â The Wheeling Nailers announce that the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins have assigned goaltender Andy Chiodo, defenseman Drew Fata and forward Cam Paddock to the Nailers. And the Penguins have called up goaltender Dany Sabourin and defensemen Darcy Robinson and Randy Perry.
Chiodo, 21, is in his second professional season, splitting time last year between all three teams in the Penguins organization. He started the season with the Nailers playing in just two games, he was then called up to the AHL. In Wilkes-Barre he played a total of 44 games, with a 2.40 GAA and a .908 SV%, recorded 4 shutouts and lead the Penguins to the Calder Cup Finals. In the middle of the season he was called up to the NHL with the Penguins playing in eight games, having a 3.46 GAA and a .892 SV%. Chiodo was selected by the Penguins in the seventh round of the 2003 draft. In nine games this season with Wilkes-Barre, he has a 3.29 GAA and a .892 SV%.
Fata, 21, is in his third professional season after playing three seasons in the OHL. The 6'2" 210 pound native of Sault Ste. Marie, ONT split the season between the Nailers and Penguins last year. He appeared in 28 games in Wheeling recording 6 goals and 10 assists with 61 penalty minutes. He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2001 in the third round of the draft. This year for Wilkes-Barre Fata has played in 13 games recording no points and 34 penalty minutes.
Paddock, 21, started his professional career with Wilkes-Barre this year, playing in eight games with no points and four penalty minutes. He was sent down to the Nailers where he appeared in four games scoring two goals and had 13 penalty minutes. Paddock returned to the AHL appearing in two more games being held scoreless. The 6'1" 180 pound native of North Vancouver, BC was drafted by the Penguins in the fifth round of the 2002 draft.
The Nailers go on a four game road trip starting Thursday in Dayton, before returning home on December 10th to play Atlantic City on Awful Night.
