Miles Claims Reebok Hockey ECHL Plus Performer of the Month

Reading, PA – For a first time in Royals history a player has been named the Reebok Hockey ECHL Plus Performer of the Month. Forward Jeff Miles becomes the second Royal to be recognized in the month of November by the ECHL. Ex-Royals goaltender Cody Rudkowsky garnered the Reebok Hockey ECHL Saver of the Week honor from November 8-14.

Miles led the ECHL with a plus-minus rating of +11 in November. The 23-year-old Pickering, Ontario native has been even or plus in the last 10 games for the Royals. In Reading's 5-0 win on November 12, the 6-foot, 200-pound winger registered his highest plus-minus rating of the season (+3). After tallying a point in the first six games, Miles has fired in a team-leading five goals and five assists in the next eight contests. He is tied for the team lead in goals (5), shorthand goals (1), shorthand assists (1), and shorthand points (2). In addition, he leads the club with 50 shots this season.

Miles finished a four-year career at the University of Vermont before signing with the Manchester Monarchs this summer. He was assigned to Reading on October 12. The former Catamount tallied 127 points and 94 penalty minutes in 132 collegiate games. He was drafted in 2001 by the Chicago Blackhawks in the ninth round, 268th overall.

The Reading Royals are entering their fourth season in Reading, Pennsylvania after relocating from Columbus, Ohio. The Royals enjoyed their first Kelly Cup playoff appearance last season, claiming the Northern Division Title and were one win away from qualifying for the Kelly Cup Finals. The Royals and the City of Reading are proud to be hosting the 13th annual ECHL All-Star Game and Skills Competition presented by Coors Light on January 25 and 26.

Reading returns to the ice this weekend with a pair of games against the Trenton Titans. Friday, Reading hosts Trenton at 7:05 p.m. in the Sovereign Center. Fans are encouraged to bring teddy bears to the game for the Annual Teddy Bear Toss after the Royals first goal! Plus, the first 3,000 fans through the gate receive a t-shirt courtesy of Chevrolet – An American Revolution. The Titans and Royals meet in Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton, New Jersey on Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. Follow all the Royals action on the Casa Grande Royals Radio Network beginning at 6:35 with the Classic Café pregame show!
