Ice Pilots announce Broadcaster for a Night contest

Pensacola, Fla. – The Pensacola Ice Pilots announced today that they will be hosting a "Broadcaster for a Night" contest that will take place when the Ice Pilots play home to the Pee Dee Pride on Sunday, January 30th at 5:05 p.m.

Three winners will be selected to go on the air for one period with the ‘Voice of the Ice Pilots' Paul Chestnutt and will have the opportunity to do play by play of the Ice Pilots game. The three winners will be given a media credential, press game notes and be treated as a member of the media.

Fans between the ages of 8-22 years old who have no professional broadcasting experience are encouraged to send a five minute demo tape of hockey play by play on cassette or CD along with their name, address and phone number to:

"We are excited about our ‘Broadcaster for a Night" contest as this gives an opportunity for the kids to see hands on what it is like in the broadcasting field. I encourage any kid interested in getting involved in broadcasting to take advantage of the contest," said Ice Pilots Vice President of Business Operations Bob Maynard. The final date for demo tapes to be accepted is Sunday, January 9th.

The Ice Pilots will play home games this Friday and Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. The Ice Pilots will host Mississippi on Friday night as the first 2,500 fans will receive flashlights sponsored by Gulf Power and it is also Church Night.

The Ice Pilots will play home to Gwinnett on Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. It is D.A.R.E. Night and Big Buddies Night. Also, Nemour's Children Clinic will sponsor a baby crawl during the intermission.
