El Paso Chihuahuas News Release

The El Paso Chihuahuas set a new team high for single-game runs in their 16-7 win over the Sacramento River Cats Wednesday at Southwest University Park. Alex Castellanos went 4-for-5 with six RBIs, falling a triple shy of the cycle. San Diego Padres prospect Rymer Liriano went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs in his Triple-A debut. Liriano started in right field, replacing Jeff Francoeur, whose contract was purchased by the Padres earlier on Wednesday.

El Paso starter Jason Lane allowed only two earned runs in six innings of work. Chihuahuas manager Pat Murphy chose not to use a DH and batted Lane ninth, despite the Chihuahuas playing an American League affiliate. Lane made Murphy's decision look good by going 3-for-3 with a solo home run. Lane is now hitting .419 in 50 plate appearances this season.

Five different Chihuahuas had multi-hit games Wednesday. The 16-run outburst followed a stretch of 33 innings where the Chihuahuas scored just three runs. Chris Rearick struck out all three batters he faced in a scoreless seventh inning out of the Chihuahuas bullpen.
