Chiefs to Hold Playoff March
April 1, 2008 - ECHL (ECHL)
Johnstown Chiefs News Release
Johnstown, PA - Ever wonder what it would be like to see a Zamboni driving down Main Street? On Monday, April 7 you'll get to find out as the War Memorial Zamboni will lead the Chiefs on a playoff march through downtown Johnstown!
The event will begin at 12:30 PM at the Point Stadium in Johnstown. The procession will then be led by a police escort, with the Zamboni and vehicles carrying the Chiefs players to follow. The Chiefs' famous mascot, Tom E. Hawk, will also be in the march. The route will take everyone down Main Street, go right onto Franklin Street, make another right onto Vine Street, and finally come to an end at Napoleon Street.
The most exciting part of the Playoff March is that you, the fans, get to be involved! The Chiefs want all their rowdy fans to dress in their Chiefs gear, be loud, and walk with us in the march. There is nothing more exciting than playoff hockey, and the Chiefs want their fans to come out and help the city of Johnstown get ready for a long Kelly Cup Playoff run by taking part in this unique event. Fans will not be allowed to drive their own vehicles in the march, but are encouraged to walk with the players' vehicles, or the zamboni, and help fire up the people watching from the street.
If you are driving into town to take part in the march, parking will be available at both the Point Stadium and the War Memorial.
The Chiefs first home game of the 2008 Kelly Cup Playoffs will take place the very next night, Tuesday, April 8. Johnstown will be taking on the Dayton Bombers in Game 2 of their best-of-three first round series with the opening faceoff set for 7:05 PM.
The Chiefs will wrap up their regular season home schedule this Friday when they take on the Wheeling Nailers on Friday, April 4 at 7:05. The Chiefs will be hosting their Fan Appreciation Day that night with numerous giveaways on tap throughout the night. Don't miss your last chance to see the Chiefs on home ice before the playoffs begin! Great seats are still available for the game and can be purchased by calling the War Memorial Box Office at 814-536-5156, or by visiting www.johnstownchiefs.com.
