
Chiefs Blow Another Late Lead, Fall In Ten

Peoria, IL - The Peoria Chiefs collected 13 hits and led after eight innings before allowing six runs as the Kane County Cougars rallied for a 10-5 win in extra innings Friday night at Dozer Park. Delvin Perez went two-for-three with a double, two RBI, a walk and a stolen base earning the Pekin Insurance Beyond the Expected Player of the Game.
After trailing 2-0 entering the bottom of the third, the Chiefs plated a run against Kane County starter Ryan Fritze. Delvin Perez walked with one out and stole his team-leading 17th base of the season. Brendan Donovan doubled to score Perez to cut the deficit to 2-1.
Peoria took the lead in the bottom of the fourth against Kane County reliever Kai-Wei Lin. Carlos Soto led off with a single and advanced to second on a two-out single from Edwin Figuera. Jonatan Machado loaded the bases with an infield single and Perez singled to left field to score Soto and Figuera for the 3-2 lead.
The Chiefs entered the bottom of the seventh trailing 4-3, but regained the lead knocking Cougars reliever Kai-Wei Lin out of the game. Donovan led off with a walk and advanced to second as Brady Whalen worked a walk against new Cougars pitcher Jose Cuas. With one out, Soto singled to score Donovan to tie the game at four as Whalen advanced to third. With runners at the corners, Wadye Ynfante singled to score Whalen for the 5-4 lead.
Kane County scored a run in the ninth as Sebastian Tabata suffered his second blown save of the homestand. After a pair of two-out walks, Machado misplayed a flyball in center field for a two-base error as the Cougars tied the game. Tabata hit a batter, gave up a single and walked in a run to start the 10th inning and left with the bases loaded and the Chiefs down 6-5. Freddy Pacheco walked in a run, gave up a hit and threw a wild pitch as the Cougars scored four more runs to win the game 10-5.
Dalton Roach took the no-decision pitching five innings allowing two runs on five hits with two walks and seven strikeouts in his Midwest League debut. Franyel Casadilla pitched one inning allowing one run on two hits with one walk and one strikeout. Evan Sisk pitched two innings allowing one run on four hits with two walks and two strikeouts. Tabata (3-3) took the loss allowing five runs on two hits with three walks. Pacheco pitched one inning allowing one run on one hit with two walks and two strikeouts.
