Omaha Storm Chasers News Release

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The Omaha Storm Chasers scored seven runs in the top of the sixth inning with the help of three home runs, coming from behind to defeat the St. Paul Saints, 10-6, on Sunday at CHS Field. Omaha (34-19) won two of the six games in the series and finished the 12-game road trip with a 5-7 record.

Trailing, 3-0, in the sixth, the Storm Chasers sent 11 men to the plate against St. Paul (25-28) right-hander Joe Harvey (Loss, 0-1) and right-hander Kyle Barraclough. After right-fielder Anderson Miller walked and move to third on a single by second baseman Angelo Castellano, Miller scored on a sacrifice fly by shortstop Erick Mejia. Next, left-fielder Rudy Martin crushed a two-run home run to right field to tie the game, 3-3. It was Martin's first Triple-A home run this season and his sixth of the season, tying a career-high.

Harvey walked third baseman Gabriel Cancel before exiting the game in favor of Barraclough, who walked designated hitter Ryan McBroom to put runners on first and second with one out. Then, centerfielder Kyle Isbel bashed a three-run homer to left-center to put Omaha in front, 6-3. The next batter, catcher Meibrys Viloria, sent a solo shot over the left-field fence to cap the scoring in the sixth. Viloria's home run was the team's 100th of the season, more than any team in Minor League Baseball.

McBroom drove in the final three runs of the game for Omaha, plating Martin on an RBI double in the seventh and blasting a two-run homer in the ninth. It was McBroom's 16th home run of the season, which leads the league.

The Saints scored in the first inning against left-hander Jake Kalish, who made his second consecutive start on July 4th. After issuing a leadoff walk, Kalish allowed a two-run homer to Drew Maggi. St. Paul then began the fourth inning with four consecutive singles, but only scored one run in the inning. Miller threw out Damek Tomscha at the plate trying to score, and Isbel robbed Keon Broxton of a three-run home run.

St. Paul battled back with three runs in the seventh against right-hander Eddie Butler (Win, 3-1), who allowed his first runs in relief since June 1, a streak that spanned 12.1 innings. After Broxton hit a solo home run, Maggi singled, and Brent Rooker slashed tripled to the gap in right-center. Rooker scored on an RBI groundout by Mark Contreras. The Saints had the potential tying runs on base in the eighth inning, but Butler struck out Jose Miranda to end the threat.

It was the sixth Independence Day win for Omaha in the Storm Chasers era (2011-present). Omaha improved to 6-4 on the Fourth of July in the Storm Chasers era, and 4-3 in Fourth of July road games.

The Storm Chasers return to Werner Park to begin a six-game homestand on Tuesday against the Toledo Mud Hens (DET). First pitch on Tuesday is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. and coverage begins at 6:45 p.m. with the Sarpy County Tourism Pregame Show at 6:45 p.m. on 1180 The Zone.
