Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release
(Trenton, NJ) - The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (23-31) lost to the Buffalo Bisons (31-21) 5-4 on Sunday evening in Trenton. The IronPigs led most of the game before Buffalo was able to score midway through the game to take the lead.
The IronPigs scored three runs against T.J. Zeuch in the top of the second inning. Darick Hall hit an RBI double to score Ryan Cordell that was followed by a two-run home run hit by Logan Moore. It was Moore's first home run of the season. His last home run hit by an IronPig was during the 2018 season.
Chase Anderson pitched well for the IronPigs in his second rehab start. He did not allow a run over three innings while giving up just one hit and striking out three batters. The Bisons were able to get their first run of the game in the bottom of the fifth inning against Tyler Alexander (0-1). Richard Urena scored on a wild pitch that cut Lehigh Valley's lead to 3-1.
Rowdy Tellez hit a go-ahead three-run home run off Alexander in the bottom of the sixth inning to give Buffalo a 4-3 lead. Alexander left the game for Jeff Singer who allowed a run in the bottom of the seventh inning that gave Buffalo a 5-3 lead.
The IronPigs were able to score a run in the top of the ninth inning against John Axford when Rafael Marchan scored on an RBI groundout by Nick Maton. Axford struck out Matt Vierling to end the game and earn his second save of the season. Joel Pampas (1-0) earned the win by pitching 2/3 of an inning in relief of Zeuch.
The IronPigs return home to Coca-Cola Park to begin a six-game series on Tuesday evening against the Worcester Red Sox. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m.
