Peoria Chiefs News Release

PEORIA, IL-The Peoria Chiefs in conjunction with the Chicago Cubs have announced that they have added catcher Peter Farina and outfielder Nate Price to help fill the void left by the promotions of four Chiefs' players at the all-star break.

Farina, out of Virginia Commonwealth, was drafted by the Cubs in the 21st round of the 2005 draft. The California native split time last year between Mesa and Boise. His season totals included a .265 average in 22 games. In 2006, the Chiefs' new backstop started the year in West Tenn for three games and was hitless in 7 at-bats before being sent to extended spring training in Arizona. Farina will take the place of Jake Muyco, who left Peoria for High-A Daytona.

Price was signed June 13th by the Cubs as a non-drafted free agent out of the University of Iowa. As a Junior in 2005, Price was named Second Team All-Big Ten as the lead off man for the Hawkeyes. The 6-2, 195 pounder hit safely in 42 of 48 starts including a team-best 19 game hitting streak. In 2006 as a Senior, the outfielder out of Battle Creek, MI hit .278 with 2 homers and 33 RBIs. He also led Iowa in doubles and triples with 12 and 4, respectively. Price joins the Chiefs from the rookie leagues in Mesa. With the two additions, the Chiefs' roster now stands at 23.
