Beloit takes down Lansing, 4-3

Beloit, WI . - The Beloit Snappers erased a three run deficit to defeat the Lansing Lugnuts 4-3 in the opening game of the second half Thursday night at Pohlman Field before 1,609 fans.

The Lugnuts took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Brian Bormaster cranked his second homer of the season over the left-center field wall.

Lansing extended the lead in the fourth frame after Yuber Rodriguez ripped a bases loaded, two run single into left field to make the score 3-0.

Lansing starter Chi-Hung Cheng was cruising throughout the game until the sixth inning when he walked the first three batters of the inning to load the bases. Sean Stidfole entered the game and threw a wild pitch that plated Mark Robinson to cut the lead to 3-1. Drew Thompson then smacked a single into center field that scored Juan Portes and Tarrence Patterson to tie the game at 3-3.

Beloit took the lead in the eighth inning after Erik Lis scampered home from third base on a Caleb Moore single to center to give the Snappers the 4-3 edge.

Frank Mata (4-2) notched the win for the Snappers, tossing one inning of hitless baseball while fanning one and walking one in the eighth.

Yesson Berroa (3-2) suffered the loss for the Lugnuts after allowing the run in the eighth.

Yohan Pino picked up his third save of the season.

Lansing (40-28, 0-1) will continue the series with Beloit (36-33, 1-0) on Friday evening. Kristian Bell (5-4, 4.13) will take the hill for the Lugnuts. Eddie Morlan (3-3, 2.57) will get the start for the Snappers. First pitch is set for 8:00 EST.
