Carrick Rejoins Bears from World Juniors

HERSHEY, Pa. - The Hershey Bears announced today that defenseman Connor Carrick has been reassigned to the club from the IIHF United States National Team. The announcement was made by Bears President/GM Doug Yingst.

Carrick, 19, led Team USA in plus-minus during the 2014 IIHF World Junior Championships in Malmo, Sweden, posting a cumulative plus-seven efficiency rating in the club's five games. He also added three assists.

The 5-10, 183-pound native of Orland Park, Illinois, made his NHL debut with the Washington Capitals on October 1, recording 10:45 of ice time. In just his second NHL game two days later, he scored his first NHL goal against the Calgary Flames at Verizon Center.

In 13 games with the Bears, Carrick has recorded four assists and 15 penalty minutes.

Prior to turning pro, Carrick appeared in 68 games with the OHL's Plymouth Whalers in just his first junior season of 2012-13. Serving as alternate captain, Carrick led all Whalers defensemen with 12 goals, and finished second among his blueline teammates in assists (32) and points (44). He chipped in 18 playoff points, leading his team in postseason assists (16).

In international play, Carrick pitched in four points (two goals, two assists) in six games on the 2012 United States Men's Under-18 Team that captured its fourth consecutive gold medal in Brno, Czech Republic. He played two years on the United States National Development Team, recording 12 points (two goals, 10 assists), 72 penalty minutes and a cumulative plus-three efficency rating in 57 games from 2010-2012.

Carrick was selected by the Capitals in the fifth round (137th overall) in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.
