Tulsa Oilers News Release

RAPID CITY, SD - The Tulsa Oilers scored four goals in the first period and romped to an impressive 6-0 victory over the Rapid City Rush on Tuesday night at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center. Adam Pleskach recorded two goals and two assists while Kevin Carr turned aside 21 shots to earn the first shutout of his professional career. Tulsa blanked its opponent for the first time this season and snapped a four-game road losing streak.

At the 10:07 mark of the first period, Oilers defenseman Scott Macaulay slammed a rebound past Rush goalie Danny Battochio and the visitors were off and running. Jon Booras slid a shot through Battochio at 13:47 to give Tulsa a 2-0 edge and Battochio was lifted from the game. Raphael Girard came off the Rapid City bench to attempt to halt the Oilers' momentum but the offensive onslaught continued. Jeff Jubinville set up Drew Fisher for a one-timer goal at 15:33 and Pleskach deflected a loose puck past Girard at 16:54 to put the Oilers up 4-0. Girard was pulled from the net after allowing two goals on two shots and Battochio returned to the Rapid City pipes. The Oilers put up four goals in a single period for the second time this season and for the first time since opening night in Allen on October 24.

Pleskach, who already tallied three points in the first period, notched point number four by muscling a wrap-around through Battochio's five-hole with only 59 seconds gone by in the second period. The second-year winger became the third Oiler this season to register four points in a single game and posted his 11th multi-point outing of the 2014-15 campaign.

In the final frame, the Oilers continued to put the clamps down defensively and effectively neutralized the Rush attack. Macaulay started the scoring and put the finishing touches on the Oilers' victory with a power play slap shot at 19:39. The goal snapped a three-game power play drought for the Oilers and gave Macaulay his first multiple goal appearance of the season.

Fisher ended the night with a goal and two assists and extended his season-long point streak to nine games. The trio of Fisher, Pleskach, and Jubinville contributed 10 of the Oilers' 18 points on the evening and over the last six games, the three forwards have combined for 35 points and a collective +36 rating. The Oilers held Rapid City to just 21 shots on goal, a new season low for shots against in a single game.

Tulsa and Rapid City are back it on Friday at 8:05 p.m. for the seventh meeting of the season at Rushmore Plaza Civic Center.
