Jackals Receive Wetmore from Springfield

ELMIRA, N.Y. - January 6, 2015 - The Elmira Jackals, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Buffalo Sabres and AHL's Rochester Americans, announced today forward Riley Wetmore has been reassigned to Elmira from the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League.
Wetmore, 25, has appeared in 23 games with the Kalamazoo Wings and one game with Springfield this season. The 6-foot 195-pound forward recorded nine points (two goals, seven assists) with the Wings and was held off the scoresheet in his brief stint with the Falcons.
The Swanton, Vermont native split the 2013-14 season between the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League and the Stockton Thunder of the ECHL. Wetmore collected 11 points (three goals, eight assists) in 38 games with the Sound Tigers and five points (two goals, three assists) in 15 games with the Thunder. In 42 career AHL games, Wetmore has amassed 12 points (four goals, eight assists) and 16 penalty minutes. He has also added 14 points (four goals, 10 assists) and 25 penalty minutes in 38 career ECHL games.
Prior to turning pro, Wetmore attended the University of Massachsetts-Lowell, where he notched 111 points (50 goals, 61 assists) and 124 penalty minutes in 152 NCAA games. As a senior in 2012-13, he helped lead the River Hawks to the Hockey East Championship and was named to the Hockey East Second All-Star Team for his efforts. As a junior, Wetmore served as team captain and was an alternate captain during his sophomore campaign. Before attending the University of Massachusetts-Lowell, Wetmore tallied 165 points (63 goals, 102 assists) in 139 games with the Green Mountain Glades in the Eastern Junior Hockey League.
