
Ontario's Walker Named Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Ontario Reign forward Geoff Walker is the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for Dec. 29-Jan. 4. It is the second time in his career that he has won the weekly award.
Walker scored four goals and added three assists as the Reign went 4-0-0 last week.
The 27-year-old had two assists in a 3-1 win at Stockton on Tuesday, scored a goal in a 3-2 victory against the Thunder on Wednesday, added another goal in a 3-2 win at Bakersfield on Saturday and recorded three points (2g-1a), including the game-winning goal, in a 3-2 victory over Stockton on Sunday.
A native of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Walker has 23 points (11g-12a) in 30 games with the Reign this season, and he is tied for fifth in the league with four game-winning goals.
Walker has tallied 103 points (45g-58a) in 130 career ECHL games with Ontario and Florida and he has added 116 points (45g-71a) in 269 career American Hockey League games with Manchester, Wilkes-Barre Scranton, Lake Erie and Syracuse.
On behalf of Geoff Walker, a case of pucks will be donated to an Ontario youth hockey organization by Sher-Wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, Sher-Wood Hockey has donated more than 31,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
