Capitals Recall Jay Beagle and Mathieu Perreault from Hershey

ARLINGTON, Va. - The Washington Capitals have recalled centers Jay Beagle and Mathieu Perreault from the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL), vice president and general manager George McPhee announced today.

Perreault, 22, has recorded four points (1 goal, 3 assists) in four games with Hershey this season. The Drummondville, Quebec, native played in 21 games for the Capitals last season, collecting nine points (four goals, five assists) and six penalty minutes.

Perreault, who wears No. 85 for Washington, registered 50 points (16 goals, 34 assists) and 34 penalty minutes in 56 regular season games with Hershey during the 2009-10 campaign. He helped lead the Bears to the Calder Cup championship with 19 points (7 goals, 12 assists) and 18 penalty minutes in 21 playoff games. Perreault was drafted by the Capitals in the sixth round (177th overall) of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.

Beagle, 25, has registered one goal and four penalty minutes with Hershey this season. A 6'3", 200-pound center appeared in seven games for the Capitals last season, posting two points (1 goal, 1 assist) and two penalty minutes.

The Calgary, Alberta native also played in 66 games for the Bears during the regular season, collecting 35 points (16 goals, 19 assists) and 25 penalty minutes while also recording nine points (2 goals, 7 assists) in 21 playoff games. Beagle, who wears No. 83 for Washington, was signed as a free agent by the Capitals on March 26, 2008.
