Hackett Strong But Aeros Fall

SAN ANTONIO --- Matt Hackett made 24 saves in goal but it wasn't enough as the Houston Aeros fell 2-0 to the San Antonio Rampage Saturday night in front of 7,128 at the AT&T Center.

The Aeros drop to 2-3-1-0 and are winless in four games (0-3-1-0). San Antonio's Matt Climie turned aside 26 shots as the Rampage (5-2-1-0) ran their winning streak to four games.

Alexandre Picard put the Rampage out to a 1-0 lead at the 10:23 mark of the first, deking Aeros goalie Matt Hackett in close on the stick side for his fifth tally of the year.

Bracken Kearns gave the Rampage a 2-0 advantage at the 9:08 mark of the second, deflecting a Jeff May shot from the left point for his second goal of the season.

The teams traded shot advantages through the first 40 minutes. San Antonio put 15 shots on Hackett in the first to Houston's five at the other end on Matt Climie. The roles were reversed in the second, with the Aeros peppering Climie with 12 and Hackett facing just three. The Aeros out shot the Rampage 9-8 in the third.

Tonight was Houston's first game in the Lone Star Faceoff series between the Aeros, Rampage and Stars. Texas leads the series by one point over San Antonio.
