Crunch Beat Hartford 2-1 in Overtime Thriller for Third Straight Win

Hartford, CT - Josh Green scored his first goal of the season 45 seconds into overtime after Kyle Palmieri tallied with just 24 seconds left in regulation to give the Crunch a thrilling 2-1 win over the Hartford Wolf Pack tonight at the XL Center. The win marked the Crunch's third straight and first on the road this season.

The game started off in a defensive battle, as neither team was able to push one across the goal line through the first 40 minutes of play. The Crunch were outshot by a 20-10 margin in the first two periods, but were kept in the game by Timo Pielmeier, who stopped every Hartford shot that came his way, including a great left pad save from point blank range about halfway through the second.

Hartford finally broke the scoreless deadlock when former Crunch Ryan Garlock centered a feed from the left wing for a streaking Jeremy Williams, who gained a step on the back-checking Maxime Macenauer and dove to re-direct the pass past Pielmeier at the 8:24 mark of the third.

The score stayed that way until Crunch head coach Mark Holick pulled Pielmeier for the extra attacker in the game's final minute. That strategy paid off when Nick Bonino found Palmieri in the high slot and his wrister found its way through traffic past Dov Grumet-Morris to tie it at 1-1 with just 24 seconds left.

The Crunch rode the momentum of their tying goal and ended the game just 45 seconds into overtime on a great individual effort by Luca Sbisa.

Sbisa skated the puck from end to end, eventually circling the net and centered a pass that was deflected, but Green was able to find and put into the open cage to seal the win.
