Salt Lake Bees News Release

Kole Calhoun belted a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the ninth to give the Salt Lake Bees a 7-3 win over the Tacoma Rainiers on Thursday night. Matt Long opened up the bottom of the ninth with a triple to right center. Tommy Field and Andrew Romine were intentionally walked before Calhoun drilled Bobby LaFromboise's first pitch onto the berm in right center to give the Bees the win. Salt Lake had scored single runs in each of the first three innings to grab the early lead, but Tacoma tied the game on a three-run homer in the fourth by Ty Kelly.

Daniel Stange (3-0) worked out of a runner at second and one out situation to earn the victory. Calhoun ended up the night with two hits and four runs batted in, while Long and Efren Navarro each added two hits and one RBI with Navarro extending his hitting streak to 12 games.

"We did enough good things to put ourselves in a position to win, and obviously Kole's hit was a little bit more than we needed, but much welcome," said Bees manager Keith Johnson.
