July 4, 2013 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Albuquerque Isotopes News Release
Albuquerque Isotopes right-handed pitcher Javy Guerra was activated from the disabled list today, July 4. In a corresponding move, righty Blake Johnson was placed onto the disabled list with a right elbow inflammation.
Guerra was placed onto the disabled list on June 7 with a right elbow strain. The 6-foot-1 hurler holds a 0-3 record with Triple-A Albuquerque this season, posting a 3.86 ERA (8 ER/18.2 IP) in six appearances (four starts). The Texas native also appeared in nine games with the Los Angeles Dodgers earlier this year, posting no record and a 6.75 ERA (8 ER/ 10.2 IP) from the bullpen.
Johnson has made 16 starts this season for Albuquerque, posting a 6-5 record with a 4.18 ERA (39 ER/84.0 IP) and 70 strikeouts. The Baton Rouge native is in his second year with the Isotopes. He leads Albuquerque's pitching staff with the most starts, innings pitched and strikeouts this season.
The Isotopes open a seven-game homestand tonight, July 4, with a four-game set against the Iowa Cubs. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:05 PM MDT. Albuquerque will send righty Matt Palmer to the mound against Iowa's Nick Struck with post-game fireworks to follow (weather permitting). The Isotopes come into tonight's contest one game out of first place in the American Southern Division standings behind Round Rock. All the action can be heard on 610 "The Sports Animal" with Josh Suchon on the call.
