Durham Bulls News Release
The Durham Bulls (15-20) shut out the Gwinnett Stripers (17-18) 6-0 at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park on Saturday night. The Bulls claimed their third win in a row and have taken a 3-2 lead in the six game series.
The Bulls jumped on Gwinnett early as 1B Isaac Paredes homered in the first inning off Gwinnett starter LHP Kyle Muller to open the scoring. 3B Jim Haley would later single home RF Josh Lowe to make the score 2-0. 2B Miles Mastrobuoni would follow suit in the fifth and knock a two-run shot, his second of the season, to put the Bulls up 4-0. Durham would later add more insurance in the seventh when Lowe doubled to center field, his third hit of the night, bringing home Paredes. C Ford Proctor homered in the eighth for the sixth and final run of the night for the Bulls
Durham pitcher Kevin Herget got the start on the mound, throwing five innings and allowing no runs on two hits with four strikeouts, earning the win. Bulls relievers Chris Muller, Phoenix Sanders, and Javy Guerra combined for the final four scoreless frames, while Muller picked up the loss.
The Bulls return to Durham Bulls Athletic Park Sunday, for the final game of the series versus the Atlanta Braves' Triple-A affiliate Gwinnett Stripers. Bulls are scheduled to start RHP Easton McGee, while Gwinnett is slated to give the nod to RHP Touki Toussaint. First pitch is scheduled for 5:05pm, with gates opening at 3:30pm.
