Hamilton Bulldogs News Release
Omaha, NE - The Hamilton Bulldogs lost their second game in a row on Friday night as they were defeated 3-1 by the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights on Friday night at the Omaha Civic Auditorium. The Bulldogs record now stands at 7-9-0-1.
Hamilton opened the scoring at 10:25 of the opening frame when Jean-Francois Jacques, who was streaking towards the Omaha net, redirected Francis Lemieux's centering pass behind Knight's goaltender Brent Krahn.
Omaha took a 2-1 lead midway through the second period as winger Carsen Germyn scored a pair of power-play goals just 2:10 apart. At the 10:29 mark, Germyn skated down the left wing and snapped a shot over the glove of Bulldogs goaltender Cristobal Huet. Germyn then potted his second goal of the night, and the eventual game-winner, at 12:39 when he fired a shot from the high slot past Huet.
Knights' left-winger Eric Nystrom rounded out the scoring at 13:57 of the third period when his low shot from near the left face-off circle beat Huet.
Hamilton goaltender Huet made 20 saves, while Krahn blocked 24 shots for Omaha to earn the win.
Hamilton could not score on five opportunities with the man-advantage; Omaha scored twice on four power play chances.
The Bulldogs are back in action tomorrow, Saturday, November 19, when they play the third game of their current five-game road trip against the Iowa Stars at Wells Fargo Arena. Game time is 8:00 p.m.
The Bulldogs next home game will take place on Friday, November 25, when the Cleveland Barons visit Copps Coliseum for the third time this season. Game time is 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at Copps Coliseum Box Office (in-person sales only), any Ticketmaster outlet, online at ticketmaster.ca or at Sports Obsession in Jackson Square.
