Norfolk ink defenseman Derek Eastman

NORFOLK, VA - Today, the Norfolk Admirals announced that defenseman Derek Eastman has been signed to a Professional Tryout Contract (PTO). He had been playing with the Columbia Inferno of the ECHL, where he posted one goal and seven assists for eight points, 18 penalty minutes and a plus-2 rating in 12 games.

A native of St. Paul, MN, Eastman stands at 5'10" and 175 lbs. In his first professional season with Columbia in 2003-04, he recorded career highs in games played (72), goals (13), assists (35) and points (48).

Eastman was a teammate of former Admiral Tyler Arnason at St. Cloud State University, where he appeared in 118 games, netting 18+50=68 points and career plus-41 rating, tying him for the highest career plus/minus rating in school history.
