Swift Current Broncos News Release

SWIFT CURRENT, SK - The Swift Current Broncos (9-25-1-2) opened up the scoring against the Seattle Thunderbirds (15-20-1-1) Sunday afternoon, but the Thunderbirds roared back en route to a 4-2 final.

Aiden Bulych opened the scoring when he tipped Jaxan Kaluski's shot from the slot, a power-play goal at 7:06 of the opening frame.

The lead lasted just 62 seconds however, as after a shot off the rush missed the net from Seattle, it wrapped around the boards to the right half wall.

Andrej Kukuca threw it on net and Isaac Poulter never saw it through defenders in front as Seattle tied the game.

With the tied at one through 20 minutes, Swift Current began period two on the power play but couldn't connect. Less than a minute after it expired, the Thunderbirds took the lead.

A shot from the left wing was tipped in front by Connor Roulette 2:14 into the second period to give Seattle their first lead.

Kasper Puutio was robbed late in the frame after a hard centring pass from Hayden Ostir as Roddy Ross got his left pad up in the air to keep the game 2-1 Seattle through 40 minutes.

The Thunderbirds doubled their lead early in the third when Keltie Jeri-Leon took a drop pass as the trailer on a three-on-two rush and beat Poulter on the glove side.

Swift Current closed the gap to one with 4:54 remaining as Ostir stole the puck on the forecheck before throwing to the slot for Kaluski to pot his ninth of the season.

With the Broncos net empty, Jeri-Leon scored his second of the game to ice it as the Broncos were unable to complete the weekend sweep.

Swift Current is now off until Saturday when they begin a short two-game road trip through Alberta in Lethbridge.

Announced attendance was 1,990.
