Winnipeg Ice News Release
The Prince Albert Raiders were in town for the first ICE home game of 2020. The ICE defeated the Raiders by a score of 3-2 in their last meeting on December 30th.
The ICE started the game off red hot, with Owen Pederson scoring 2 goals in a span of 11 seconds in the opening minutes of the game. Connor McClennon assisted on both goals and Peyton Krebs received a helper on Pederson's second goal. Prince Albert would respond halfway through the period with Ilya Usau getting his 12th of the season. The shots were 14-9 in favor of the Raiders after the first frame.
The second period saw another three goals, with McClennon giving the ICE a 3-1 lead before the Raiders would score 2 straight to tie the game up heading into the third period. Brayden Watts and Kaiden Guhle got the goals for Prince Albert.
The ICE then scored three unanswered goals in the third period to secure the 6-3 victory and put themselves four points above the Raiders in the East Division. Isaac Johnson got the game winning goal and set up Jackson Leppard for the insurance goal. Leppard would score another one before the game was over as the ICE beat the Raiders for a second straight time. The shots were 28-25 in favor of the Raiders as Liam Hughes made 22 saves in the win.
The Raiders are going to be back in town Sunday night as they look to take some crucial points off of the division leading ICE.
