Brian O'Hanley Headed Back to the AHL
March 16, 2011 - ECHL (ECHL)
Cincinnati Cyclones News Release
GREENVILLE, South Carolina - The 2010 Kelly Cup Champion Cincinnati Cyclones, proud affiliate of the NHL's Florida Panthers and Nashville Predators, announced today that defenseman Brian O'Hanley has been loaned to the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League.
O'Hanley returns to Rochester on a professional-tryout agreement for the second time this season. In late January, he skated in a pair of games with the Americans, earning his first AHL goal on January 22 against the Syracuse Crunch.
During his most recent AHL call-up, O'Hanley collected a pair of assists, eight penalty minutes, and a +5 plus/minus rating in 16 games with the Portland Pirates - the Buffalo Sabres top minor-league affiliate. The skilled, third-year rear guard earned 26 points (6 goals, 20 assists) and 53 penalty minutes with the Cyclones this year before being summoned to the AHL. Despite not playing in the ECHL for more than a month, O'Hanley still ranks tied for 10th among all of the league's defensemen in scoring. The 24-year-old Quincy, Massachusetts native represented the Cyclones at the 2011 ECHL All-Star Classic in Bakersfield, California.
O'Hanley will be in the lineup tonight for the Americans as they host the Hamilton Bulldogs at 7:05pm from Blue Cross Arena.
Cincinnati will enter the final stretch of this seven-game road trip tomorrow night with the opener of three against the Greenville Road Warriors at 7:05pm. Fans can hear all the action from the BI-LO Center on the Cyclones Radio Network starting at 6:50pm.
The defending Kelly Cup Champions will return to U.S. Bank Arena on Friday, March 25 when they host the Toledo Walleye at 7:30pm. It will be the final Kids Eat Free Night of the season, as all fans ages 2-12 will receive a FREE meal courtesy of John Morrell, Sunkist, and Sun Drop. 2010-11 single game and discounted group tickets are available now. 2011-12 season tickets are on sale NOW!
