Devils Sign Chris Berenguer

Trenton, NJ - The Trenton Devils today signed defenseman Chris Berenguer. The announcement was made by Albany and Trenton General Manager Chris Lamoriello.

Berenguer, 25, comes to the Devils from Hamline University (MIAC) where posted 32 points (13g, 19a) this year, most among conference defenseman, and was named MIAC Player-of-the-Year. He led the MIAC with five game-winning goals, including an overtime power-play score March 9 to lift Hamline to its first NCAA postseason victory. Hamline's first two-time First Team All-American captained the club for three seasons and received All-Conference accolades in all four years, including the MIAC's All-Rookie Team in 2007-08 with 16 points in 16 games. His strongest season was 2008-09 when he recorded career highs of 14 goals, 25 assists and 39 points. A native of Eden Prairie, MN, Berenguer was named All-Conference and All-State while playing at Eden Prairie High School, and was named a USHL All-Star during the 2005-2006 season as a member of the Sioux Fall Stampede. The 6-2, 205-lb. right-handed shooter was born December 6, 1985.

Trenton hosts Elmira tonight at 7 p.m.
