Houston Returns Chris Lawrence From AHL Loan

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Edmonton Oilers and San Jose Sharks, announced center Chris Lawrence has been returned to the Thunder from loan to the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League on a professional tryout agreement (PTO).

Lawrence is expected to be available to suit up when the Thunder returns for its next game at home on Friday vs. Idaho at 7:30 p.m. (Comcast HN/1280 KWSX/StocktonThunder.com).

Lawrence, 24, returns from his second AHL trip this season and skated in two games for Houston. The 6-foot-4, 210-pound forward has skated in six AHL games this season with Houston and Worcester, scoring one goal while adding 15 penalty minutes and currently stands as the Thunder leader in goals (21) while ranking second in assists (25) and points (46) in 49 games.

Selected by the Tampa Bay Lightning (89th overall) in the third round of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, the 24-year old has totaled 181 games in the AHL with Houston, Norfolk and Worcester, scoring 32 points (11g-21a) and totaling 133 penalty minutes.

A two-time recipient of the ECHL "Award of Excellence," Thunder has led the ECHL in attendance for four consecutive seasons, was voted "Best Local Sports Team" by readers of the San Joaquin Magazine for the third straight year, and drew over 200,000 fans for the fifth consecutive season in 2009-10.
