Brahmas Power Past Thunder

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX- The Wichita Thunder lost 4-1 to the Texas Brahmas at the NYTEX Sports Centre on Monday night.

Wichita took the early lead, but the Brahmas managed four unanswered goals, the last three of which came on the power play, to earn the win.

Wichita scored just 3:08 into the game for the first goal of the night. Andrew Martens took a pass from Aaron Davis and scored from the blue line. The Brahmas tied it 41 seconds later when Mick Lawrence backhanded an open rebound underneath the left pad of Kevin Beech.

Jason Deitsch fanned on a shot during a Texas power play early in the second period, but the puck slipped past Beech's right side at 1:38 to give the Brahmas a 2-1 lead.

Texas broke the game open with two more power play goals in the third. Greg Hogebom ripped a backdoor pass from Deitsch under the left corner of the net on a five-on-three at 2:34. Chad Woollard made it 4-1 at 7:31 on another man advantage, scoring on a slapshot from the point.

Beech stopped a penalty shot from Ross Rouleau late in the third and saved 29 of 33 in the loss. Wayne Savage picked up the win for the Brahmas, saving 32 of 33.

Wichita was 0 for 4 on the power play while Texas was 3 for 5.
