Hartford Yard Goats News Release
MANCHESTER, NH - Bret Boswell's two-run homer and RBI-single lifted the Hartford Yard Goats to their fourth straight win, 8-5 over New Hampshire, before a sellout crowd of 6,594 at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium Sunday afternoon. It was the Yard Goats' 14th win in 18 games against New Hampshire and moved Hartford (28-21) a season-high seven games over .500. Eight of Hartford's victories against New Hampshire have been in come-from-behind fashion. The Yard Goats go for the four-game sweep Memorial Day afternoon.
Boswell's two-run shot to right-center, his fourth home run this season, tied the game 2-2 in the fourth inning. Down 4-2 in the fifth, the Goats clawed back with a run on Colton Welker's sacrifice fly and took the lead in the sixth on Boswell's RBI-single and a wild pitch, scoring Brian Serven with the go-ahead run. The Yard Goats broke open the game with three runs in the ninth, helped by a two-base throwing error by pitcher Jake Fishman, enabling two runners to score.
Alan Trejo's three hits and RBI paced the Yard Goats 12-hit attack. Bowell's homer, single and three RBI and two hits by Manny Melendez and run scored also added to the offense. Riley Adams had a two-run homer, single and three RBI for New Hampshire
Hartford starter Brandon Gold pitched the first six innings to notch his fifth win (5-3), tying him for the league lead in victories. He gave up four runs (three earned) on six hits, walked one and struck out a season-high seven. Yard Goats' relievers Heath Holder, Jordan Foley and Mitch Horacek finished the game.
The Yard Goats go for the sweep Monday at 3:35 PM. LHP Ty Culbreth will pitch for Hartford against RHP Hector Perez for New Hampshire. The game will be broadcast on News Radio 1410AM, on 100.9 FM and on the Internet on newsradio1410.iheart.com and on MiLB.com.
