Green Bay Rockers News Release
MADISON, Wis. - The Green Bay Booyah fell to the Madison Mallards on Thursday evening, 7-5.
The Booyah had an early lead as Kaden Hollow (Dixie State) and Jake Berg (Jacksonville) were able to connect for a pair of RBI singles in the first frame.
After the Mallards were able to cut their deficit to one, the Booyah were able to answer with two runs in the third inning, thanks to a two-run home run the opposite way by Max Wagner (Clemson).
However, six unanswered runs over the next three innings put the Booyah behind on the scoreboard. Things got a little more interesting in the seventh inning, when Wagner connected for his second home run of the game, a solo shot to left to make it 7-5. The Booyah had a chance in the ninth inning when they were able to get the go-ahead run to the dish, but a deep fly out to center field ended the game,
Wagner was able to get on base in all five plate appearances as he went 2-for-2 with three walks.
Green Bay will start Logan Lee (Northwood) on Friday evening to end the series. This will be his fourth appearance of the season. He is 2-0 and has pitched 19 innings, allowing 12 hits, five earned runs, six walks and 13 strikeouts. In his last start against the Kokomo Jackrabbits, he gave up an unearned run, two walks and four hits and struck five batters out.
This will be Lee's second start against the Mallards, he allowed two runs, one unearned on three hits and three walks in seven innings and picked up a win on June 12.
The Mallards will start Ryan Lauk. He went up against Lee earlier in the month and got tagged for four runs on six hits in 4.1 innings pitched.
The Booyah will return home on Saturday, June 26 to take on the Lakeshore Chinooks. There will be a salute to Healthcare Workers with Prevea Healthcare Rocky bobblehead giveaway. Kids Run the Bases postgame, presented by Culver's and Y100 FM. First pitch is at 6:35 pm.
