LAKEWOOD, NJ - Brody Colvin limited Charleston to two hits and an unearned run through 6.1 innings, and the BlueClaws won 7-2 Thursday night to earn a series split with the RiverDogs.
Colvin (2-4) earned his second win as a professional, striking out five and walking four in his second longest outing of the season.
The BlueClaws (15-13) offense came into Thursday night's game hitting just .178 over their last eight games, but wasted no time jumping all over Charleston starter Sean Black (1-3) in the first.
With one out Jeremy Barnes walked, Leandro Castro singled, and the first of Anthony Hewitt's three base hits paired with a throwing error made it 2-0 Lakewood.
Darin Ruf then tripled home the BlueClaws third run, and Sebastian Valle grounded out to bring in Ruf and extend the lead to 4-0 after one.
Hewitt would drive in his third run of the day in the third to make it 5-0, and Jonathan Villar and Adam Buschini would add late RBIs to pad the lead.
Black gave up nine hits and five earned runs in four innings for Charleston (12-16).
Buschini finished with two doubles and a triple for three of the BlueClaws 13 hits, just a day after they were limited to four and shutout for the first time in 2010.
Friday night at 7:05 pm the BlueClaws will host the first place Savannah Sand Gnats (Mets). Lakewood LHP Matt Way (0-3 6.84) will take on RHP Brandon Moore (1-1 2.49).
