Buffalo Bisons News Release

Today's Game

The Buffalo Bisons face the Durham Bulls in the third game of a four-game set from Durham Bulls Athletic Park (7:05 p.m.). The Herd looks to win their first game of the series after dropping the previous two, including a 9-8 walk off loss last night. After tomorrow's game, the Bisons travel to Norfolk for a four-game series with the Tides.

vs. Durham

With the loss last night, the Herd is now winless in its last eight games in Durham, having not won at DBAP since a 9-1 victory on June 21, 2011. Buffalo is just 2-16 in its last 18 games in Durham. The Bisons haven't won a season series over the Bulls since 2006 (5-3).

Call to Arms

The Blue Jays have selected the contracts of both RHP NEIL WAGNER and LHP JUAN PEREZ from the Bisons. Wagner ranked second in the IL with 13 saves and Perez has held lefties hitless in 19 at-bats this year. Toronto also recalled RHP TODD REDMOND, who was 1-0 with a 9.53 ERA in two games with the Bisons this season.

On the Mound

RHP CLAUDIO VARGAS will make his team-high 10th start of the season for the Bisons tonight. Vargas ranks second on the team with 49.1 innings pitched in 2013. The righty is 2-0 with a 1.96 ERA in four road starts this season. In his last start on May 24 against Indianapolis at Coca-Cola Field, he gave up six earned runs in 5.1 innings of work.

Homering Herd

The Bisons have 60 home runs this season, six more than any International League club. Last night, OF MOISES SIERRA and INF RYAN LANGERHANS each homered. Sierra's blast was his fourth since May 10th, good enough for a share of third place among IL hitters over that span. INF MAURO GOMEZ'S six May home runs tie him for the third-highest total in the IL during the month.

Bisons Bits

INF JIM NEGRYCH continues to lead IL hitters with his .377 batting average and is 4th in on-base pct.(.436)...INF LUIS JIMENEZ leads the IL in RBI (45) and is 6th in batting average (.339).

Josh Johnson

RHP JOSH JOHNSON is scheduled to make his second start with the Bisons on Thursday. It will be the third game of his MLB rehab assignment. On May 25, in his first appearance with the Herd, Johnson worked four scoreless innings while giving up only one hit and striking out three in a no-decision against Indianapolis.

The Blue Jays (22-30) lost to the Braves last night, 7-6, in interleague action. OF JOSE BAUTISTA clubbed his 12th home run of the season while former Bisons OF ANTHONY GOSE had his first multi-hit game of the year. The Blue Jays face the Braves tonight at 7:05 p.m.
