Toledo Mud Hens News Release

The Hens' bats were hot early as Toledo took an 8-1 fourth inning lead and never looked back in a 10-4 win in Charlotte Wednesday night.

After Jose Alvarez surrendered a first inning run, the Mud Hens came roaring back in the second with a four-run rally sparked by a Ben Guez solo home run. Quintin Berry followed with an RBI double later in the inning, and later scored when Jordan Lennerton extended his hit streak to 18 with an RBI single.

Toledo piled on three more runs in the top of the fourth after Ramon Cabrera knocked in two with a double and later scored on a Kevin Russo sacrifice fly to give the Hens a commanding 7-1 lead. The Hens stretched the lead to 8-1 the following inning when Jordan Lennerton scored on a fielder's choice.

The Knights threatened in the fifth after they cut the lead to 8-3, but the Hens responded with two runs in the top of the sixth thanks to Danny Dorn's tenth homer of the year.

Charlotte added another in the seventh before Nick Castellanos homered in the eighth to give the Hens an 11-4 lead. The final run scored in the ninth when Brandon Douglas scored on a wild pitch to secure the 12-4 win.

The Mud Hens will look to seal the series victory tomorrow at 7:15 p.m. behind RHP Shawn Hill.
