Bats Defeat Clippers 5-2

Columbus Clippers News Release
Despite a strong performance by lefty T.J. House, the Clippers could not give him enough run support as Columbus lost to the Bats 5-2 at Louisville Slugger Field.
Louisville would get on the board first when Felix Perez drove home Billy Hamilton from third with an RBI sacrifice fly in the bottom of the first. The Clippers would then tie the game at 1-1 in the top of the third on a Cord Phelps RBI single.
The Bats would regain the lead in the bottom of the fifth with a Corky Miller RBI single. Miller would later come around to score on a Billy Hamilton sacrifice fly. Mike Hessman then enlarged the Louisville advantage with a two run shot in the bottom of the sixth. Phelps later drove home another run with another RBI single in the top of the seventh.
After last night's extra inning affair, Columbus needed innings from lefty T.J. House. House (L, 1-3) delivered, going eight innings and giving up five runs (3 earned) on nine hits. He struck out three and did not walk a single batter. Unfortunately, Columbus could not muster enough offense to back House's effort. Tony Cingrani (W, 3-0) took home the win for the Bats.
These two teams will resume baseball activities on Wednesday morning. The Clippers will have righty Trevor Bauer (2-1, 3.96) get the start on the mound. The Bats will counter with right-hander Armando Gallarraga (2-3, 2.66). First pitch is scheduled for 11:05 AM.
