Today's Game
This evening, the Bisons take on the Columbus Clippers in the second game of their three-game series over three days at Coca-Cola Field. Following this series Buffalo will continue their home stand against the Charlotte Knights with a three game series on June 1-3. After an off day the Herd will travel to Toledo for a three game series with the Mud Hens starting June 5.
Last Night: BUF 5, COL 7
RHP Sean Reid-Foley made his second start of seasoning going 6.0IP, 5H, 3R/ER, BB, and 10SO. INF Rowdy Tellez added his ninth double of the season starting the Herds' comeback in the fifth. A 2R home run by INF Lourdes Gurriel Jr. in the sixth gave Buffalo the lead. RHP Sam Moll was credited with the loss last night pitching only one inning allowing 4H and 3R/ER.
Today's Starter: RHP Taylor Guerrieri
RHP Taylor Guerrieri is looking for his first win of the season tonight. The righty's last outing was 5/25 against Rochester going 4.0IP, 8H, 4R/ER, 1BB, 3SO, and 2HR. The right hander began the season in the Herd bullpen, but has made a three starts in the rotation, including back-to-back starts last week. Guerrieri made two starts for Durham last season, but missed the remainder of the 2017 campaign due to an injury to his right elbow.
Columbus (0-1)
The Bisons and Clippers will play for the second time this season. The two teams will play a total of 6 times this season. Following these games at Coca-Cola field, Buffalo will travel to Huntington Park for a three-game series beginning on June 8.
Lourdes Gurriel Jr.
INF Lourdes Gurriel Jr. led the charge going 2-4 in yesterdays' defeat. The infielder added his third home run of season scoring two in the sixth. Gurriel Jr. now has 12 hits in 12 games and has a .267 batting average.
Jason Leblebijian
INF Jason Leblebijian now has 10 multi-hit games on the season after collecting 2 singles against the Clippers. The infielder also had a walk in yesterday's game. Leblebijian is tied with C Danny Jansen leading the team with 21 RBIs.
Danny Jansen
C Danny Jansen went 0-3 and drew a walk yesterday to add to his on base percentage, he now leads the IL in on base percentage with a .433. Jansen is batting .450 going 9-20 in his last 6 games.
Bisons Bits
The Herd sits only 1.5 games back of the Lehigh Valley IronPigs for first in the International League North. Last time Buffalo won the division was in 2005 under then manager Marty Brown.
Blue Jays Update
Toronto (25-30) lost the second of a three game series against the Red Sox 8-3. Former Bison INF Devon Travis went 2-4 in yesterdays defeat .RHP Sam Gaviglio will face off against LHP Eduardo Rodriguez at 1:05 p.m. at Fenway Park. After the series in Boston the Blue Jays have a scheduled off day May 31. Toronto will return to action June 1 in Detroit for a three game series against the Tigers.
