Today's Game

This afternoon, the Bisons and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders will close out their three-game series at PNC Field. Buffalo will then have a scheduled off-day on Monday before beginning their second-last home stand of the season August 7-12 against the Gwinnett Stripers and the Toledo Mud Hens.

Last Game, Game 1: BUF 1, S/W-B 3

LHP Matt Tracy was saddled with his first loss in Triple-A this season after tossing five innings for the Herd. Tracy gave up nine hits and three runs (one earned) in the defeat. INF Tim Lopes drove in C Danny Jansen in the second inning for the lone Bisons' run against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The RailRiders would answer with one in the third inning and two more in the sixth for the win.

Last Game, Game 2: BUF 6, S/W-B 4

The Herd used a five-run third inning to propel themselves to the doubleheader split with the RailRiders on Saturday. Buffalo collected five straight hits in the third, capped off by a INF Richard Urena three-run home run that extended the lead to 6-0 for the visitors. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre had the game-tying run aboard in the seventh, but RHP Justin Shafer notched his 11th save in the win by pitching a scoreless seventh inning.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (5-7)

The Bisons and RailRiders close out their second-last series this season. The two teams will wrap up their season series at Coca-Cola Field August 21-24, which is also Buffalo's final homestand of the year. The RailRiders have won the season series each of the last three years, including a 13-7 mark in 2017.

Today's Starter: RHP Brandon Cumpton

RHP Brandon Cumpton rejoins the Bisons' rotation after he was recalled by the Toronto Blue Jays on 7/31. Cumpton made one appearance for Toronto before being optioned to the Herd. The righty had made three straight starts for Buffalo, and six total appearances, before being summoned to the Big Leagues. His last start was a no decision at Indianapolis on 7/28 (5.0IP, 3H, 3R/ER, 3BB, 4SO).

Tim Lopes

INF Tim Lopes was the only Bison to have a hit in both games of the doubleheader on Saturday. Lopes was a combined 2-7, collecting his 22nd RBI of the year in game one, and had a run scored in the night cap. His batting average stayed at .273 in the DH split.

Richard Urena

INF Richard Urena broke out of his 0-26 streak with a 2-3 night at the plate in game two of the DH against the RailRiders. Urena hit his fourth home run of the season in the five-run third inning in Buffalo's 6-4 win. He now has 25RBI on the season with three on the home run.

Bisons' Bits

3B Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was aboard a combined five times in the doubleheader on Saturday. Guerrero walked a total of three times and was 2-2 with his 2nd RBI on game two of the DH...The herd is now 11-9 in doubleheader games in 2018. Buffalo has played five DHs in the last 12 days.

Blue Jays Update

Toronto (51-59) took their third straight game against the Seattle Mariners on Saturday. RHP Marco Estrada took a no-hitter into the seventh inning of the Blue Jays' 5-1 win. Toronto pounded out 11 hits against LHP James Paxton in the win. The two teams will close out their four-game series this afternoon at Safeco Field (4:10 p.m.). RHP Sam Gaviglio makes the start for the Jays against RHP Mike Leake.
