Allentown, PA - The Syracuse Chiefs overcame a 3-0 deficit and cut a 6-3 deficit to one, but fell to the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, 6-5, on Sunday afternoon at Coca-Cola Park. Chris Dominguez had two hits and three RBIs for Syracuse in the game.

Lehigh Valley (70-43) took the lead in the bottom of the second inning off Syracuse starting pitcher Austin Voth. Joey Meneses led off with a single. Former Syracuse Chief Danny Espinosa followed with a home run to right field, putting Lehigh Valley up, 2-0.

The IronPigs scored again in the third. Ryan Goins walked to begin the frame. As Mitch Walding struck out, Goins stole second base. After Meneses lined out, Espinosa reached base on a throwing error on Jose Marmolejos at first, and Goins scored on the play to give Lehigh Valley a 3-0 lead.

Syracuse (47-66) got on the board in top of the fourth. With two outs, Matt Reynolds singled. Yadiel Hernandez followed with a ground-rule double to left field that put runners at second and third base. Dominguez then doubled to left-center field, scoring both Reynolds and Hernandez to cut the IronPigs advantage to one, 3-2.

The Chiefs tied the game in the top of the fifth. Voth led off with a single to right field. Andrew Stevenson followed with a force out where Voth was out at second base, but Stevenson was safe at first. With Victor Robles batting, Stevenson stole second base. After Robles grounded out, Jacob Wilson singled to right field, brining home Stevenson to knot the game up, 3-3.

Lehigh Valley regained the lead in the bottom of the fifth. Goins began the frame with a walk. With Walding batting, Goins stole second base. Walding then walked, placing runners at first and second. A Meneses single moved Walding to second and scored Goins for a 4-3 IronPigs edge. Espinosa followed with a double to right field, plating Walding to make it a 5-3 ballgame.

The IronPigs added a run in the seventh. Walding was hit by a pitch and Meneses singled to put runners on the corners. Two batters later, Zach Green singled to left field to bring home Walding for a three-run lead, 6-3.

Syracuse closed the gap in the eighth. Robles led off with a walk, stole second base, and moved to third on a Wilson groundout to first base. Reynolds then doubled, scoring Robles to trim the Lehigh Valley advantage to two, 6-4. Hernandez followed with a groundout that moved Reynolds to third, and a Dominguez single allowed Reynolds to score, cutting the IronPigs edge to one, 6-5.

The Chiefs put a runner in scoring position in the ninth when Tuffy Gosewisch led off with a double, but IronPigs reliever Pedro Beato retired the next three batters to pick up his International League leading 29th save of the season.

Syracuse returns home for an off day on Monday before beginning a six-day homestead with the first game of a three-game series against the Charlotte Knights on Tuesdayat NBT Bank Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
