From the Notes

ABOUT LAST NIGHT: J.T. Brubaker mastered the Mud Hens with 8.0 shutout innings, Jason Martin ripped a long solo home run and the Indians earned their league-high 14th shutout with a 2-0 win over Toledo to seal an above-.500 road trip. Indy scored both of its runs early in the game against left-hander Ryan Carpenter. Kevin Kramer returned to the lineup after a brief two-game absence and singled in the 2nd, leading to a run-scoring double by Max Moroff. Martin's blast then opened the 3rd inning, a towering drive over the wall in right-center. Brubaker cruised with the 2-0 advantage, limiting the Hens to three hits with six strikeouts. Michael Feliz tossed a scoreless ninth for his first save with Indy. Ryan Lavarnway's 12-game hitting streak came to an end, as well as Pablo Reyes' six-gamer.

MATHISEN ON A ROLL: Wyatt Mathisen enters tonight's game with a six-game hitting streak. He logged a two-hit game last night, his first multi-hit effort since June 25 at Toledo. During his hitting streak, he's batted .292 (7-for-24) with one homer, two doubles, six RBI and three runs scored. He's also walked once and struck out just twice during that time.

12,500: Last night's crowd of 12,500 was the largest road attendance Indy has played in front of this season. The previous high was 11,443 on 6/9 at PAW.

HOME COOKING: J.T. Brubaker has simply dominated in his home state of Ohio this season. He has made five total starts in Ohio this season -- 4/18 at Akron, 6/17 at Columbus, 6/28 at Columbus, 7/30 at Columbus and 8/4 at Toledo. In those outings combined, he's 1-0 with a 1.21 ERA (4 ER/29.2 IP) and 32 strikeouts against just five walks.

MORE ON J.T.: Brubaker continued his excellence on the road with last night's performance, as well. In 12 road starts between Double-A Altoona and Indy, he's 5-2 with a 2.06 ERA (16 ER/70.0 IP). Over his last three starts with Indy (7/25 vs. ROC, 7/30 @ COL, 8/4 @ TOL), he's gone 2-0 with a 0.82 ERA (2 ER/22.0 IP), .184 average against (14-for-76) and 18 strikeouts with only one walk issued. Indy has only scored nine total runs in his last three starts.

THIS IS OFFENSIVE: Indy's offense ranks in the top three of 13 categories in the International League. They are first in average (.273), hits (1,012), doubles (258), total bases (1,560), sac bunts (38), OBP (.336), SLG (.420) and OPS (.757). The Indians are second in runs (504), fewest strikeouts (829) and stolen bases (96), tied for second in RBI (476) and tied for third in triples (25).

HOLMES' LAST 10: Clay Holmes owns a 2.15 ERA (14 ER/58.2 IP) over his last 10 starts between Pittsburgh (two starts), Indy (seven starts) and High-A Bradenton (one start) dating back to June 2.
