MEMPHIS, TN - Memphis and Albuquerque battled back and forth Friday night before the Redbirds emerged with a 9-8 win.

Both teams notched a four-run first inning and a two-run third inning before the 'Topes took a 7-6 lead in the fourth off a throwing error by shortstop Pete Kozma. With a two-run homer by Brock Peterson, his first as a Redbird, the 'Birds took the lead and did not look back, tacking on another one in the seventh with an RBI-single by Vance Albitz.

The Isotopes picked up a run in the eighth, but were blanked in the ninth by Redbirds reliever Eduardo Sanchez who nailed down his team-leading ninth save. Nick Greenwood earned the win, allowing one unearned run on two hits while fanning two over three innings of relief. Ramon Troncosco took the loss for Albuquerque, giving up three runs on four hits across two innings.

The 'Birds and 'Topes continue their five-game series tomorrow with first pitch at 6:05 p.m. The Memphis Redbirds will be donned in St. Jude Children's Research Hospital patient-designed jerseys tomorrow in honor of the hospital's 50th Anniversary, courtesy of EMHC.
