ROUND ROCK, Texas - In a rousing grand finale, Round Rock native Taylor Stearns was selected as winner of the inaugural Round Rock Express Music City Showdown following last night's Express game at The Dell Diamond. Stearns beat out nearly 100 contestants in the competition, which was held in conjunction with KVET 98.1 FM, The Stage on Sixth and the Nashville Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Stearns, 20, performed an original piece titled "Move On" and accompanied herself with acoustic guitar. She was selected based upon the vote of fans in attendance and a three-member judging panel consisting of local singers Tim Curry and Pauline Reese, and William Morris Endeavors music agent Mark Roeder. Stearns lists Norah Jones, Brooke Fraser, Coldplay and Balmorhea as musical influences.

As the winner, Stearns receives a prize package that includes a trip for two to Nashville, a live performance in a showcase at The Stage on Broadway and the potential to earn a music publishing contract through Nashville-based Lawrence Music Group. Other prizes include a Music City welcome gift bag, an exclusive Music City Backstage Pass and other gifts.

Other finalists were Michelle Burnett (25, Driftwood), Emily Cousins (30, Liberty Hill) and Sarah Rutherford (24, Austin). Each finalist performed one song at home plate for their chance at the title following a 5-1 Express victory over the Nashville Sounds.
