Round Rock Falls in Extra Innings to Gwinnett, 5-3

The Stripers jumped out to an early 1-0 lead after SS Jim Jarvis homered to start the first inning. Gwinnett followed up with another home run by DH Aaron Schunk to extend the Stripers lead.

In the fifth inning, LF Alejandro Osuna reached base with a double. DH Trevor Hauver followed with his first home run of the year to pull the Express even 2-2.

The Express took the lead in the bottom of the seventh inning. CF Michael Helman reached base with a single and then stole second base. LF Alejandro Osuna hit a single to move Helman to third base. Hauver knocked in Helman with a single to give Round Rock the 3-2 lead.

Gwinnett fought back in the top of the ninth inning to tie the game at 3. CF Jose Azocar doubled and then advanced to third base after a force out at first base. C Chadwick Tromp knocked in Azocar with an RBI single and force the game into extra innings.

The Stripers broke the tie in the top of the tenth. 2B Luke Waddell started on second base to start extra innings and SS Jim Jarvis was hit by a pitch. RHP Emiliano Teodo had two wild pitches to allow Waddell to score to give Gwinnett the 4-3 lead. RHP Alexis Diaz came in relief and suffered a wild pitch to extend the Gwinnett lead to 5-3. The E-train could not tie the game in the bottom half of the tenth inning.

E-TRAIN EXCERPTS:

HAVE A NIGHT HAUVER: Round Rock DH Trevor Hauver reached base four times against Gwinnett with two singles, a home run, and a walk. Hauver provided the offensive spark for Round Rock, driving in all three runs for the Express.

ALL DAY ALHSTROM: Round Rock LHP Robby Ahlstrom has allowed only one run in his last five outings dating back to September 13 th of last year. Ahlstrom tossed two scoreless innings, allowing just one hit while striking out three.
