The Oklahoma City Comets continued to dominate offensively in a 13-8 series-opening win over the Las Vegas Aviators on Tuesday night at Las Vegas Ballpark. The Comets' bats started on fire from the jump as Zach Ehrhard drove home Hyeseong Kim with an RBI double in the first inning. The Aviators (3-1) tied the game in the bottom half of the first on a solo shot from Zack Gelof. The Comets (3-1) took the lead back in the third inning on a Nick Senzel RBI single. James Tibbs III put his stamp on the game in the fifth inning with a solo homer to extend Oklahoma City's lead to 3-1. The Aviators scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth to even the score at 3-3. The Comets responded with a seven-run sixth inning. Ehrhard put the Comets back in front with a RBI single, and two batters later, Fitzgerald notched a two-run single. Senzel broke the game open with a grand slam to put the Comets ahead, 10-3. The Comets put three more runs on the board in the seventh inning on singles from Fitzgerald and Senzel to boost the lead to 13-3. The Aviators combined to score five runs between the eighth and ninth innings before the Comets closed out the game.
Of Note:
-Oklahoma City's offense set a season-high of 18 hits and scored 13 runs for a third consecutive game. The Comets have racked up a combined 39 runs on 48 hits over their last three games, including 19 extra-base hits ... Five players tallied multi-hit games, with four apiece by Zach Ehrhard and Ryan Fitzgerald.
-Nick Senzel set a career high with seven RBI and became the first OKC player with seven RBI in a game since Justin Yurchak accomplished the feat June 11, 2023 at El Paso. He also hit the team's first grand slam of the season for a second consecutive year.
-James Tibbs III hit his third home run in the past two games and finished 2-for-5 with the home run and a double. Over his last three games, Tibbs is 9-for-14 with eight extra-base hits and nine RBI.
-Finishing 4-for-6 with three RBI, Ryan Fitzgerald recorded his third consecutive game with multiple hits and RBI. During the three-game stretch, Fitzgerald is 9-for-14 with 12 RBI...Fitzgerald matched his career-high of four hits, doing so for the sixth time in his career and for the first time since May 14, 2025 with Triple-A St. Paul at Iowa.
-Zach Ehrhard collected his first four-hit game at the Triple-A level, finishing 4-for-6 with a double and two RBI.
-The OKC pitching staff walked 13 batters and managed to strand 17 runners on base, including the bases loaded four times.
-At 4 hours, 1 minute, Tuesday was OKC's longest nine-inning game since Sept. 25, 2021 at Las Vegas (4:03) before the current pace of play rules were instituted during the 2022 season.
-Going back to 2023, OKC is 19-6 over the last 25 games at Las Vegas Ballpark.
