Zephyrs Blank Omaha, Set New Franchise Home Run Record

PAPILLION, Nebraska - Brad Hand dealt five innings of shutout baseball and the bullpen picked up the final four innings to blank Omaha 6-0 at Werner Park. The Zephyrs offense hammered three home runs and set a new franchise record for homers in a season. The shutout is the Zephyrs league leading 12 th shutout of the season.

The game started 62 minutes late due to the threat of rain and when the game got started Gil Velazquez smoked the first pitch for a home run. The Zephyrs scored three runs in the third to extend their lead to 4-0.

Mike Cervenak drilled a two out solo home run in the sixth inning. The rain fell steady from the fourth inning until the game was stopped in the sixth inning. The game resumed following a :58 minute delay and both teams turned to their bullpens.

Jake Odorizzi suffered the loss for Omaha allowing five runs in six innings. The Zephyrs added a run in the seventh with a Shawn Bowman home run.

The Z's utilized Dan Jennings for three innings and Rob Delaney pitched the final inning to complete the shutout. The Storm Chasers were held to two hits in the game, a season low.

Hand earned his 11th win of the season allowing one hit in five innings.

The Zephyrs are three games back of Albuquerque with 10 to play. The Isotopes lost their game in Memphis. Omaha has already clinched its division and will play the winner of the American South.
